Check your owner's manual for specific intervals, but a universal rule is after the first 10-20 hours for break-in, and then every 50-100 hours of use or at least once a year. If you frequently ride in very dusty and hot conditions like those in Texas, changing it more often is the best way to protect your engine.
Your air filter. In a dusty environment, a dirty or poorly sealed air filter can destroy an engine faster than anything else. You should inspect it before every ride. Clean and re-oil foam filters, and replace paper filters as soon as they are visibly clogged or damaged.
Massimo recommends using our Heavy Duty 10w-40 Powersports oil, available here on the website.
It depends on the terrain. For general trail riding, stick to the manufacturer's recommended PSI (found on a sticker on the vehicle). For more technical terrain, you can air down by 2-4 PSI to get better traction in sand, mud, or on rocks. Always remember to air back up for high-speed riding on hard-packed surfaces to prevent tire or rim damage.
If the vehicle sits for more than a few weeks, use a battery tender (trickle charger). This is the single best way to prolong battery life. Periodically check that your battery terminals are clean and tight, as the intense vibrations from off-roading can easily loosen them.
Use a pressure washer with care. Scrape off thick clumps of mud first. When spraying, avoid blasting directly into electrical connections, bearing seals, the air intake, and radiators. Use a quality degreaser for the engine and chassis, followed by an automotive soap for the plastics to prevent fading.
Perform a quick walk-around. Check your tires for proper pressure and damage. Check your fluids, primarily oil and coolant levels. Test your controls, especially the brakes and throttle. Visually inspect your drive belt (if applicable) and look at the CV boots (the rubber accordion covers on the axles) for any rips or tears, as a torn boot can quickly lead to a failed axle.
